Arifler Neighborhood
About Neighborhood
In the southwest of Seydikemer, nestled on a slope overlooking the Eşen Plain, lies a calm and peaceful living space: Arifler. The neighborhood, which takes its name from a family who once migrated from Finike to make this land their home, is a settlement with a deep-rooted story. Although it separated from Yakabağ in 1987 to form its own identity, it carries the traces of the past into the present with established families like the Tekeler and Kaplama.
Life on the Slope and the Bounty of the Land
Arifler's geography has also shaped its way of life. The houses are scattered across the slope in a "dispersed settlement" pattern—close to one another, yet providing each with its own breathing space. This allows every household to be intertwined with its own garden and field. The neighborhood's single primary school stands as a symbol of the intimate and small community life here. For those escaping the summer heat, the Gerişburnu Yaylası (highland pasture) is the perfect retreat.
The economy relies entirely on the generosity of the soil. Olives and pomegranates, whose production has seen a deliberate increase in recent years, have become the most important sources of income for the neighborhood. Alongside these two valuable products, traditional crops like sesame, barbunya beans, and wheat continue to be cultivated. The establishment of an agricultural development cooperative demonstrates the community's goal of uniting the farmers' strength to carry this abundance into the future in a more organized manner.
