Çamurköy Neighborhood
About Neighborhood
Located in the fertile plains of Seydikemer, a step away from the bustle of the main roads, lies Çamurköy, a tranquil production hub that takes its name ("Mud Village") from its rich, water-retentive soil. Its dispersed settlement pattern offers a lifestyle deeply connected to the land, where each family lives intertwined with their own fields and gardens.
The economic heart of the community is its olive oil factory, which has an annual capacity of 70 tons. The olive, a cornerstone of the region's livelihood for generations, is processed here, turning Çamurköy into a local epicurean destination. Alongside the olive groves, fields of wheat and corn, pomegranate orchards, and greenhouses showcase the village's agricultural diversity and productivity. Livestock farming is also a key element, completing this agricultural cycle.
Comprised of small hamlets with intriguing names like Koru, Havuslar, and even "Hortlaklar" (The Ghouls), Çamurköy culturally extends its roots to the cool Girdev Plateau (Girdev Yaylası). This link symbolizes the profound relationship between the village's settled farming culture and its nomadic Yörük past. The lack of a direct connection to the main highway, with access provided via a quieter route, has helped Çamurköy preserve its authentic and peaceful atmosphere.
