Uğurlu

About Neighborhood

Located just south of Seydikemer, at a point where the very lifeblood of the region's traffic converges, Uğurlu is notable for its dynamism and constant motion. Situated only 2 kilometres from the Seydikemer district centre, the neighbourhood commands a critical junction connecting the roads to Antalya, Fethiye, Kaş, and Denizli. This strategic role has transformed the settlement, formerly named "Müngen," from a traditional village into a developing hub that attracts continuous migration, where the heart of the service and commerce sectors also beats.

The economy of Uğurlu reflects this dual identity. On one hand, crops like cotton, sesame, peanuts, and various vegetables are grown on its fertile lands. On the other, a vibrant service sector is growing, with businesses lining the main road. The neighbourhood's past holds a sweet memory: the famous "Müngen melon and watermelon," which were once named after the village. Although these products have lost their former importance, they live on in memory as a symbol of Uğurlu's agricultural roots and fertile soil.

With its clustered settlement pattern, Uğurlu offers a modern and bustling lifestyle while also maintaining its deep-rooted traditions. Despite being at one of the busiest spots in the region, the people of Uğurlu keep the "yayla" culture inherited from their ancestors alive by migrating to the highland pastures of Urluca and Seki in the summer. Uğurlu is a neighbourhood that successfully blends its agricultural past with its commercial future, right in the midst of constant flow and change.
